Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon and City Council Committee on Health Chairman Councilor Alan Zaldivar led the commitment for constant cleanup in the fight against dengue during Monday flag ceremony.
The awareness advocacy is banking on the battle cry “Ugsaran Tinloan para Balatian Malikawan.”
Themed “Bato Iloilo Kontra Dengue Kag Covid-19 sa Bag-ong Normal,” the campaign encourages residents to regularly conduct clearing operations to get rid of breeding places of mosquitoes.
City Hall has strengthened the 5S Kontra Dengue, adding the new S which stands for “Social Distancing and Use of Face Mask” to the 4S Strategy: “Search and Destroy,” “Secure Self-Protection,” “Seek Early Consultation,” and “Support Spraying or Fogging” of Department of Health.
“If we can afford to have zero casualty fighting against dengue then it’s about time that we again strongly introduce our advocacy. This is more on strengthening community education,” Zaldivar stressed.
From January to June 13, the metropolis recorded 158 dengue cases and one casualty, as reported by City Health Office. (Alexandra Jover / Iloilo City PIO)
