Iloilo City Government in partnership with Ayala Foundation, Inc. launched three educational programs – CENTEX Training Institute, CENTEX Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD), and Leadership Communities (LeadCom) on June 7.
Mayor Jerry Treñas thanked partners led by Ayala Foundation Senior Director for Social Development Joanna Duarte and Mitsubishi Corporation General Manager Harutaka Ishikawa for helping improve the implementation of educational endeavors.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ayala and Mitsubishi for their partnership in bringing LeadCom to our city. This year-long program will equip our young individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to become exceptional servant leaders and project managers. We are confident that through their efforts, they will make a lasting, positive impact on our beloved community,” said Treñas.
Department of Education Iloilo City Curriculum and Implementation Division Chief Arlo Villalva; City Social Welfare and Development Officer Teresa Gelogo; SK Federation President Leila Luntao; Special Assistant to the Mayor Ma. Mathilde Treñas, department heads, parents, teachers and students attended the launching.
LeadCom has selected 10 teams of aspiring leaders for a year-long community-based youth development program where participants receive servant leadership and project management knowledge and skills, which are then applied to community projects, supported by seed fund and mentoring, as a way to promote active citizenship.
“To become a good leader, one must have the capability to lead and prioritize the welfare of others. Also, a vision to achieve betterment for the community,” said Benz Dominique Delariman, one of the chosen leaders.
LeadCom Senior Associate and Project Lead Mary Pauline Balmes said CENTEX is Ayala Foundation’s response to the call of DepEd for partnerships in the delivery of quality education to Filipino learners.
CENTEX provides initiatives that support teachers to teach better and empower the community to take care of its learners by promoting well-being, inclusive education, and a positive learning environment.
CENTEX ECCD aims to contribute to the realization of quality education by providing relevant training and mentoring activities.
