One of Iloilo City’s frontliners tested positive for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In an interview over RMN Iloilo’s Palabra de Honor program on Monday, Mayor Jerry P. Treñas confirmed that a member of Iloilo City Emergency Responders (ICER) was infected with COVID-19.
ICER is usually tasked to assist in the transport of persons under monitoring (PUMs) and persons under investigation (PUIs) to hospitals and the city’s quarantine facilities.
“We don’t have ICER services tonight because one of our personnel tested positive for COVID-19. We will make sure to test other personnel and perform contact tracing because we don’t want to compromise other employees. We are also planning what we can do for the patient right away. The City Government is making sure that we will support whatever is needed,” Treñas said.
Treñas added that the new case was among those frontliners tested using RT-PCR last Friday, and the results came out today.
The patient was not included yet in the latest bulletin issued by Department of Health in Western Visayas, wherein no new COVID-19 case was reported in the region out of 136 laboratory results.
