The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has recommended that Iloilo City remain under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) from June 1 to June 15, 2020.
In the IATF-EID issued Resolution No. 40 approved May 27, Iloilo City is classified under moderate-risk highly-urbanized cities.
The rest of the areas in the region such as Iloilo Province, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Capiz, Antique, Aklan and Guimaras are labeled as low-risk and placed under MODIFIED General Community Quarantine.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said that he will make an appeal to the IATF after seeing their recommendation of placing the city in GCQ.
In an interview over Aksyon Radyo Iloilo, Treñas said that he will send a letter to IATF within the day. He said that it is not reasonable to place the city in GCQ while the rest of the region, especially Iloilo Province, under MGCQ because almost all people do transactions in the city being the regional center.
Local government units may appeal their classification to IATF Screening and Validation Committee with concurrence of Regional IATF until 12 noon tomorrow, Mayo 29.
As of May 27, 2020 data of Department of Health Region 6, Iloilo City has 18 COVID-19 cases, with four active cases and 1 death. Iloilo Province has 20 cases – one active and four deaths.
