Nancy Palacios of Barangay Badiang, New Lucena, Iloilo saw the bag full of cash at around 4:30PM while window shopping for graduation dress of her child in Marymart Mall. She immediately contacted her classmate, Senior Inspector Jojo Tabaloc of Police Station 1 to turn over the money and find the owner.

The police station managed to trace the owner, rice trader Isidro Fabela of Jaro district, through a gasoline station receipt with his name on it. Fabela was contacted and the bag and money were returned to him.
According to Fabela, he bought something from the boutique that Saturday but inadvertently left his bag there. He was supposed to use the money to buy sacks of rice.
