Department of Health Western Visayas reported that the Province of Guimaras now has a confirmed case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The patient, who is an overseas Filipino worker (OFW), has not set foot yet in the island-province.
In the latest COVID-19 Case Bulletin released Saturday, DOH-6 posted that the patient is a 27-year old male from the Municipality of Buenavista who is one of the seafarers repatriated by the national government and arrived at Iloilo City on April 29, 2020.
The patient is asymptomatic and currently under quarantine at a hotel in Iloilo City.
DOH announced that there are five other new cases of COVID-19, and four of them are fellow repatriated overseas Filipino workers now at the hotel in Iloilo City. The other case is a 28-year-old female under home quarantine in Jaro district.
DOH-6 reported a total of 72 COVID-19 cases in the region, with 27 recoveries and 9 deaths.
