The Province of Guimaras canceled major events that would bring in thousands of spectators and tourists as a precautionary measure against the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the island.
That includes Pagtaltal sa Balaan Bukid during the lenten season and Manggahal Festival which has activities starting this April 2020.
Governor Samuel Gumarin issued Executive Order No. 30 imposing the indefinite suspension of all public/mass gatherings or events in the entire island province.
The order covers mass gatherings such as rallies, social events like fiestas, foundation day celebrations, and benefit dances. However, fiestas and foundation day may be celebrated with a Holy Mass and/or through private gatherings provided that social distancing shall be strictly observed;
Private and public school activities in all levels and other similar activities and gatherings are also prohibited.
The order shall take effect immediately until further revoked or amended. Here’s a copy of EO No. 30.
Guimaras still has no confirmed case of COVID-19 but there are 90 persons under monitoring (PUM) and one patient under investigation (PUI) in Buenavista as of 2 p.m. of March 15, 2020.
