A total of 26 couples from Hibao-an Sur, Mandurriao exchanged “I do’s” in a mass wedding officiated by Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog at City Hall February 12.
The mayor reminded the couples of their responsibility now that they have legalized their union.
“A wedding is just a ceremony, but marriage is an entirely different thing – you have to make it work and make it last until forever,” he advised them.
The city government has been giving free mass weddings for indigent couples under the Mabilog administration.
Each couple has also been required to plant a tree first at the Calajunan Eco-Park in Mandurriao district to help in the greening of the environment, as well as establish a symbol of their being husband and wife.
