Former Guimaras Governor Emily Lopez was injured after surviving a road accident in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo on Thursday morning.
Lopez and her companions were riding a Toyota van on their way to Taos Puso Foundation Inc. office in Sta. Barbara when an Isuzu SUV slammed on their vehicle around 9AM.

The accident that happened in Kahilwayan Avenue killed the van driver Mario Gayorgor of Pavia, Iloilo. Other passengers former vice Mayor Marilou Alipao of Alimodian, Asuncion Rosal, Cristina Concio, Marly Sinkwego and Cecilia Velchez survived the mishap.
Police Officer 1 (PO1) Ian Sumagaysay of the Sta. Barbara PNP explained that the driver of the Isuzu, Jolly Libuna of Lambunao, lost control of his vehicle when one of its tires blew off.
Lopez remains in critical condition at the Iloilo Doctors Hospital, and her family plans to transfer her to in Metro Manila.
