The Department of Tourism Region VI starts to conduct Assessment and Product Update of Western Visayas Provinces and New Tour Circuit Workshops for the Region this April-May 2018.
The product update aims to sustain and increase the tourist arrivals of the region and come up with new tour packages for tourists visiting the region. New tourism establishments around the region will be highlighted during the assessment.
“There are more tourism destinations and attractions with complete facilities waiting to be discovered around the region that offer different tourism products for the tourists to choose from. This assessment also aims to check the readiness of the attractions/destinations to cater tourists when the LGUs and the national government start to promote them as part of the tourism circuit in Western Visayas”, DOT Region VI Director Helen J. Catalbas said.
The first leg of product update featured “Agribyahe Circuit” of the 2nd and 3rd Districts of Iloilo, which includes the different farm sites in the area.
Director Catalbas said the product update is in coordination with the tourism stakeholders and tourism officers of the six (6) provinces of the region. She stressed “this is to ensure we have the full support of LGUs and the private sector and to help them plan, improve and implement marketing strategies that will benefit the tourism sector and the community as well”.
The provinces of Guimaras and Antique are scheduled for the next leg of the product update on the third week of April. (KJS)
