Department of Health Regional Office 6 announced that there is a new positive case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas.
In a COVID-19 Case Bulletin No. 17, DOH-6 reported that a 44-year-old male who hails from Lapaz district in Iloio City tested positive for the dreaded disease.
Dr. May Ann Sta. Lucia of Department of Health Center for Health Development in Western Visayas said that the patient had a travel history to United Kingdom, and is now admitted to an unnamed hospital in the city.
As of 6 P.M. of April 11, DOH released the results of 52 patients tested in Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) Sub-national Laboratory, with one positive and 51 negative of COVID-19.
This brings the total to 40 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region. Iloilo Province still has the highest cases at 15, followed by Bacolod City at 7, then by Aklan at 6, Iloilo City with 5, Capiz with 4, Antique with 2, and Negros Occidental with 1 case.
Guimaras remains the only province that is still Covid-free.
There are already six patients who have recovered, but seven have already expired in Western Visayas.
