Secretaries Paulyn Jean Ubial and Judy Taguiwalo of the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), respectively, will lead the turnover of millions of pesos worth of projects in Janiuay, Iloilo on Tuesday.
Iloilo Provincial Administrator Raul Banias on Monday confirmed that Secretary Ubial will grace the turnover of a Php35-million building at Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay. This building will house other service areas of the hospital.
She will also turnover the Php2.2 million barangay health station (BHS) in Barangay Atimonan, still in Janiuay.
Both projects were funded under the Health Facility Enhancement Program (HEFP) of the DOH, aimed at improving the access of people to health services and goods.
Banias mentioned that a member of Indigenous People (IP) from the said village who is among the 22 scholars of the Midwifery Scholarship Project for IPs in the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) will be possibly hired by the provincial government to be assigned in the said health station.
Also in Atimonan, Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. will turn over toilet bowls and cement for 100 households to comply with the Zero Open Defecation campaign.
Ubial will also inspect the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Mandurriao, Iloilo, Banias added.
Meanwhile, the one-classroom building complete with facilities will be turned over by Secretary Taguiwalo to their recipients. The almost P1-million project inside the Atimonan Elementary School was funded under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan–Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) of the DSWD.
