Department of Health-Center for Health Development in Western Visayas confirmed on Wednesday that there is a new case of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the region and he is a registered nurse.
In a press briefing, Dr. Ma. Julia Villanueva, assistant regional director of the DOH-6 said that the new case is a 32-year-old male from Roxas City, Capiz.
“He is on home quarantine and asymptomatic. He is a health worker from Capiz,” Villanueva said.
The new case breaks the month-long zero-infection record of the province, bringing its total COVID-19 case to six.
Villanueva added that there are now 11 health workers who tested positive for the disease in Western Visayas: five doctors, three nurses, and one each for radiologic technologist, emergency responder, and Barangay Nutrition Scholar personnel.
Seven of these health workers are from Iloilo City, two from Iloilo Province, and one each from Aklan and Capiz.
In the latest COVID-19 bulletin of DOH-6, there are now 105 confirmed cases in the region. This includes 25 active cases, 70 recoveries, and 10 deaths.
