The Department of Local Government (DILG) Iloilo Province and Iloilo City successfully led the i-BIDA Fun Run, a campaign against the use of illegal drugs. The event done at the Diversion road on Saturday, April 29 was participated by hundreds of runners from the province and city.
Engr. Carmelo F. Orbista, CESO V, Provincial Director, DILG Iloilo opened the activity by thanking all the stakeholders who made the activity possible. Dir. Juan Jovian E. Ingeniero, CESO V, Regional Director, DILG Region VI, gave his message of support to the endeavor and promote the Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Program. Also, video message of support of Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr. were presented. For Iloilo City, Atty. Sedfrey Cabaluna delivered the City’s message in behalf of Mayor Jerry P. Trenas.
Chief of the Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED) LGOO VII Maricel M. Bechayda gave an overview of the BIDA program. Moreover, Engineer Joebert B. Pillora as the lead runner, discussed the brief mechanics of the fun run. The Iloilo Boys Scout of the Philippines – Iloilo Chapter lead the BIDA Dance.
The event was also participated by Dir. Oscar T. Lim, Jr. City Director, DILG Iloilo City, Hon. Ma. Angelica Blanca B. Requinto-Espinosa, PPSK President/Ex- Officio Board Member and IA 1 Johnny Boy DC Ibañez. Moreover, various National Government Agencies (NGAs), private and state universities, and Local Government Units (LGUs) joined the fun run—Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials in the Province and Iloilo City, DILG personnel (from Regional, Provincial, and Field offices), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Central Philippine University (CPU), Philippine Red Cross, Provincial Health Office, Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO), members of CADAC, PADAC, Iloilo City Sports Development Division, National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), Professional Regulation Commission, University of San Agustin (USA), West Visayas State University (WVSU), Northern Iloilo State University (NISU), University of the Philippines, Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U), and Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas – Iloilo and Iloilo City Chapter
The i-BIDA Fun Run is DILG Iloilo Province and Iloilo City initiative in collaboration with the Iloilo Provincial Government headed by Governor Arthur R. Defensor, Jr. and Iloilo City Government headed by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, private sectors, and other government agencies committed to campaign in increasing awareness and encouraging community participation in the fight against the use of illegal drugs.
