More than 2,000 Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPO) filled the covered gym of Iloilo Sports Complex on Wednesday (Nov. 28) for the BSPO Day celebration organized by the Provincial Population Office (PPO).
Governor Arthur Defensor, Sr. graced the occasion where he took the opportunity to thank the BSPOs for their valuable help in the different programs of his administration.
He reiterated his commitment to the welfare of the BSPOs in which he assured that the provincial government will always support all their endeavors.
“Your voluntary services cannot be compensated with money. But I am sure that with all the good deeds and volunteer work that you have done to your fellowmen, it is God Almighty who knows how to repay you,” Defensor told the BSPOs coming from the 42 towns and one component city of the province.
Defensor cited the valuable help of the BSPOs in monitoring the trees planted all over the province as part of the Action for Regreening and Transformation (ART) program and the conduct of data collection for the Population Data Banking Program of PPO.
He also announced in front of the BSPOs that they will be receiving a cash gift of P3,000 each this year to be distributed by the second week of December.
The BSPO Day celebration coincided with the birthday of PPO chief Ramon Yee.
Also present in the activity were Board Members Demy Sonza, June Mondejar and Manny Gallar.
The BSPO association of each district performed a presentation to the delight of the jam packed crowd inside the ISC covered gym.
To note, Governor Defensor initiated the enrolment to PhilHealth of all the BSPOs in the province since he assumed office in July 2010. (ECGarcia | Capitol News)
