Central Philippine University (CPU) will host the 2nd Regional Organic Research Fair and Exhibits which will be held from November 26- 29, 2012.
Levi de los Santos, Outreach Director and Event Committee Chairman, said the agri-fair will gather forty local cooperatives, agri-business enterprises, and educational sector entities that will exhibit handicrafts made of organic materials and other products promoting food security in Western Visayas.
The techno-fora will also highlight the DA programs and other agriculture stakeholders. Forum on tilapia culture and processing, nursery management, urban agriculture, and other related topics beneficial to the farmers and sector participants from Region 6 will also be tackled.
Dr. Reynaldo N. Dusaran, CPU Research Director and Event Committee Adviser, said he believes the event “will be a good opportunity to promote organic agriculture. It is both a privilege and a responsibility to directly contribute to food security,” he said.
Dr. Joyce Wendam, DA Regional Technical Director for Policy, Planning, Research and Development, Regulatory & Support Services pointed out that the cooperation of the private sector is a big factor in promoting food security.
“This is a multi-faceted issue that demands a multi-sectoral effort,” Wendam said.
