The Iloilo City Government has partnered with various jeepney operators for the free ride-to-school program of scholars of Iloilo City Community College (ICCC).
Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog stressed the partnership with the transport groups has benefited the less-privileged ICCC students who may have difficulty in having transportation allowance.
At least 57 students have availed of the “Libre Sakay” project offered by various transports plying the route of the city and nearby municipalities.
“This program of Mayor Mabilog means a lot, since it cuts my daily transport allowance and it helps my other expenses,” said Celia Gegodas, a graduating student taking up B.S. Office Administration, who takes triple rides from her home in Jaro to ICCC in Molo district.
Mabilog, ICCC administrator Maria Mathilde Octavio and transport association presidents signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the undertaking.
