Twelve amazing stories of friendship and humanity will be featured in this year’s Cine Europa at SM City Iloilo starting Wednesday, October 8, 2019.
Once again, the European Union (EU) brings Cine Europa 2019 at SM City Iloilo following last year’s successful screenings. The film festival featuring European-produced storylines will be launched at SM Cinema 8.
The Chargé d’Affaires of the EU Delegation to the Philippines, Mr. Thomas Wiersing, considers the film festival as the most influential cultural diplomacy tool. “Cine Europa is a distinctive way to showcase European cultural diversity and to open up opportunities in the cultural and creative industries”, he said.
The 22nd Cine Europa is featuring 12 movies selected by the EU embassies and cultural institutes in Manila that also reflect the bloc’s “growing cultural relationship with the Philippines because of our shared values,” according to Wiersing.
The films, which will run until October 12, 2019, will be shown free of charge on a first come first serve basis.
Cine Europa 2019 in Iloilo will feature the following movies: BELGIUM’s Achter De Wolken (Behind the Clouds), THE CZECH REPUBLIC’s Teorie tygra (The Tiger Theory), DENMARK’s Vinterbrodre (Winter Brothers), FRANCE’s Tour de France, GERMANY’s GriiRe aus Fukushima (Greetings from Fukushima), HUNGARY’s Milk (Happy New Year), ITALY’s Essere Leonardo da Vinci, un’intervista impossibile (Being Leonardo da Vinci, an impossible interview), NORWAY’s Kongens nei (The King’s Choice), THE NETHERLANDS’ De Marathon (The Marathon), SPAIN’s 10.000 km (Long Distance), SWEDEN’s Tjuvheder (Drifters), and UNITED KINGDOM’s Mary Shelley.
