Closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras are already initially installed in three street junctions of Iloilo City to monitor the flow of traffic and even spot accidents or crimes when they happen.
“The CCTV cameras are now operating in Plazoleta Gay area, one at Gen. Luna St. near UP Visayas, and at corner of Quezon-Ledesma Streets,” Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said.
He showed to members of the media the CCTV room at the 7th floor of City Hall.
The CCTV control room records and stores the video recordings with connectivity through the internet protocol (IP) radio system by Smart Telecommunications.
Aside from CCTVs, the city government will be installing traffic lights in seven areas initially out of the 16 busy street intersections in the city.
