As Ilonggos brace for the ‘new normal’, RJT Group took on the challenges of changing consumer habits by launching its newest online kitchen brand, Carlo’s Food Express.
Carlo’s Food Express is the newest channel for customers to order and enjoy their favorite comfort food and delicious meals.
Available in Carlo’s Food Express are their platters, such as Bam-I, Chicken Lollipop, Callos, Palabok, Breaded Fish Fillet, Pork Barbeque, Bakareta etc, which are perfect for little celebrations in which there’s no need to go out the resto to celebrate.
Carlo’s favorite and express food like Spring chicken with rice, Fresh lumpia, Smoked bangus and other local delicacies, such as Turon, Puto Cheese & Macaroons are also available. Carlo’s Food Express is also readying to take special food orders in advance, especially if you want it customized.
“We also came out with new items such as more frozen ready to eat food, given the demand for frozen food this quarantine period,” said Ms. Rosalie Sarabia Treñas, President of RJT Group.
Their frozen food business has been there from before, but with the quarantine, loyal customers would order their frozen food which can keep for many weeks enabling them to keep safe at home while still having their favorites such as Dinuguan, Callos, Rellenong Bangus, Tapa, Tocino and more.
Looking for more innovative ways of serving customers, RJT Group has created a new way of letting patrons get their Ilonggo favorites and other food items into their homes considering all the safety protocols and the contactless economy. And safety is number one with the RJT group, considering all the sanitation protocols and the availability of masks, vitamins, alcohol to the employees.
“Demand is definitely still there but consumers now require safety, convenience, and accessibility, aside from quality and value for money,” according to Sales and Marketing Director Paolo Trenas. “Hence the pickup and delivery channels.”
With Carlo’s Food Express, there is no fear of contamination or the virus. Ordering food is also easy through online channels, and payment is a breeze whether it is by COD or prepayments thru BDO online transfers, GCash, PayMaya, and Palawan Express.
Customers may choose to pick up their orders at dedicated station inside Carlo’s Bakery Café in Dungon store or have it delivered through their own motor service, aside from partnerships with multiple third party suppliers like MOVE ILOILO, Grab, Lihog, Substr, Zoom, Maxim, etc.
Carlo’s Food Express online is the go-to of your to-go food. It’s convenient, safe, personalized, and most of all it’s no worries.
“It’s basically just answering the call of the Ilonggos to have good affordable food available,” Treñas said. “We just want our customers to be happy, but most of all be safe in their homes. And as some go back to offices, or work from home, they can still get their favorite food to them without going out. In the end, it’s all about what customers want, how they want them, when and where they want them. That’s keeping up with them in the new normal.”
Always looking forward, RJT Group has invested significantly in a move to make the businesses more active on digital and online, but with the new normal, that investment has come into good use. Also with the young management on board, it has innovated its food and its service to the customers who are moving to digital. The online kitchen is the way to go in these times and will seem to be the new way to move forward. Carlo’s Food Express launch is just in the right moment, perhaps even made more necessary given the times.

The RJT Group of Companies is composed of Carlo’s Bakeshop and Café, Ang Kamalig Restaurant, Geronimo’s, and Carlo’s Food Express. Adjusting to the needs of customers while providing essential food products and services, RJT has kept its kitchen, commissary, and bakeshop operational since the start of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
With President Rosalie Sarabia Treñas taking the lead, they have opened their kitchen for the whole duration of the ECQ to help out and produce more than 2,000 packs of food every day for the frontliners. They have served around 92,000 food packs during the 2-month operation as a partner of Iloilo City Government in COVID-19 response.
This was happening aside from fulfilling orders of customers for pick up and delivery from their Café Dungon store and delivering cakes and breads to supermarkets. Employees were kept busy in the quarantine period and all hands on deck with the repurposing of some jobs to take orders, deliver, man stations, and help with the kitchen.
