The Iloilo Provincial Government released on Wednesday (May 29) the list of 35 scholars for school year 2013-2014 who have qualified in the Iskolar sang Iloilo Program.
Seven poor but deserving students from each of the five districts of the province underwent rigid evaluation to become part of the program.
For the First District, the qualified scholars are: January E. Botenes of Oton, John Carlo F. Dauba of San Joaquin, Seth Exequiel E. Bautista of Igbaras, Rheane Joy E. Senangote of San Joaquin, Mea Clarisse S. Silva of San Joaquin, Angel A. Loraña of Tigbauan, Julie Mae A. Cao of Oton, and Liandro S. Sanquiles of San Joaquin.
Second District: Zyrah S. Marañon of Zarraga, Christian T. Beronia of San Miguel, Angelbabes G. Pauchano of Leganes, Ma. Mercylou A. Amargo of Alimodian, Jesus F. Aguirre of Alimodian, Glydil Rose R. Patigas of Leganes, and Pearly B. Pinggo of Leganes.
Third District: Richard S. Magullado of Cabatuan, Jessa Salido of Janiuay, Roscel C. Defacto of Badiangan, Judy Ann O. Villa of Janiuay, Jose Palmon Jr. of Cabatuan, Ronald C. Oberio of Maasin and Winnie Jean Chiva of Lambunao.
Fourth District: Jade Razel D. Dalde of Dingle, Jomel S. Limbago of San Enrique, Andrea Mae C. Ibay of Dingle, Greg Alvaro F. Descarial of Barotac Nuevo, Jmrosvil V. Seguisa of Banate, Joevylyn C. Matulac of Barotac Nuevo and Andy A. Curacho of Anilao.
Fifth District: Fatima Glacel B. Bilaran of Carles, Aloha Veibs M. Fabian of Ajuy, Darrah Marie A. Celes of San Rafael, June Marie C. Segaya of Sara, Ken Ryo D. De la Cruz of Carles, Ma. Cecelia B. Carmen of Carles and Eljean B. Mancenido of Sara.
The qualified scholars will have the opportunity to enroll in a four-year Baccalareate Degree in any State Universities and Colleges in the City and Province of Iloilo.
Aside from free tuition, the scholar is also entitled to P2,000 monthly allowance, P1,000 book allowance per semester, and P1,000 clothing allowance.
Established by Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. in 1996, the Iskolar sang Iloilo program aims to assist poor but deserving students in the province by providing them the opportunity to pursue college education.

It is open to all incoming college students who are bonafide residents of Iloilo province, belong to families with annual gross income of not more than P120,000 per annum, and belong to the upper 10% of the graduating class.
