The construction of the Iloilo Ferry Terminal Project will soon be commenced with the signing of a joint venture agreement between the Iloilo City government and the project proponent, Double Dragon Properties Corporation, on Monday (Sept 24).
City Planning and Development Officer Jose Roni Peñalosa said the project was acquired under the public-private partnership (PPP) scheme.
The project estimated to cost around P135 million, will be built in a portion of the city-owned lot at the Parola Area. The terminal will be constructed and operated by the corporation.
Commercial spaces for rent will also be constructed adjacent the terminal to accommodate vendors that currently occupy stalls beside the wharf.
There will be adequate parking spaces for vehicles and ramps and railings will be built to ease mobility of passengers.
The new terminal building will accommodate pump boats plying the Iloilo to Guimaras, both the Jordan and Buenavista routes. Mooring of pump boats will be more organized.
