Angelicum School Iloilo (ASIL), a private, Catholic school located in Tabuc Suba, Jaro announces that it will cease its operations effective July 31, 2020.
In a notice sent to parents of ASIL students dated May 27, School Director Rev. Fr. Maximo P. Gatela said they will stop their operations due to “difficulty that COVID-19 has created to ASIL.”
“The experience of the 4th Grading Period was difficult for all of us. The sad part was that ASIL was not ready and failed miserably in delivering the services. As the situation of uncertainty continues, we cannot prolong the 4th grading experience throughout the whole school year nor keep you hanging in the air. Effective July 31, 2020, ASIL will cease operation,” Gatila said.
ASIL is offering three options for the parents: Home Study Program from the UST-ANGELICUM COLLEGE, REAP (a home study based program virtually for free) also under UST-ANGELICUM COLLEGE, or to transfer to kids to other schools.
“Your transfer documents are ready for pick-up after you have been given clearance,” Gatela added.
ASIL is one of the three Angelicum Schools established by Fr. Rogelio B. Alarcon, O.P. in the 1970s. The school pioneered in a non-graded, open-classroom education system in the Philippines. The iconic heritage house Lizares Mansion is one of its school buildings.
