Ilonggos may now experience crystal-clear television viewing as ABS-CBN launches digital TV in Iloilo and Guimaras through TVplus.
ABS-CBN TVplus executives formally introduced the ‘mahiwagang black box’ (popular term coined by journalist Ted Failon) to members of Iloilo media and bloggers in a ceremonial switch-on of the digital terrestrial television (DTT) held June 23 at Diversion 21 Hotel, Iloilo City.
ABS-CBN is the first media and entertainment company in the Philippines to make the historic switch from analog to digital television in 2015 and is the first to roll out digital TV outside Metro Manila as part of its mission to transform the TV viewing experience of the Filipino families nationwide.
ABS-CBN TVPlus sales cluster head Glen Enginco said that Iloilo was the first city in Western Visayas to get access to digital TV.
“The ABS-CBN TVPlus sources its signal from a tower located in Guimaras. Compared to analog, the signal from the digital TV tower is not affected by the clouds or other interruptions that affect analog TV signal,” he added.
Using digital signal transmission, ABS-CBN TVplus promises TV viewing to be crystal-clear – a huge distinction from the current analog system that most televisions in the country still use. It can also capture and broadcast channels that transmit in digital and is offered for a one-time payment fee of P1,999 without any monthly and installation fee.
Apart from watching TV shows in dramatically clear quality, Ilonggos can now access four exclusive free-to-air channels: all-day movie channel CineMo, all-day kids channel Yey, news channel DZMM TeleRadyo and educational channel the Knowledge Channel.
