Iloilo’s 1st Mother and Child Center 9 and Beyond is once again ready to serve its clients in a new, improved site in Jaro
After temporarily closing its doors in 2020 due to the pandemic, 9 and Beyond, Iloilo’s First Mother and Child Center and now a pioneering parenting center, is now open to the public once again at a new address in Jaro district.
“It’s like having a new baby again,” said Ms. Adhara A. Sebuado, 9 and Beyond’s in-house lactation consultant.
The rebirth of 9 and Beyond Iloilo on Wednesday, May 25 marked one year after temporarily closing its doors for in-person visits and transactions in 2020.
9 and Beyond is a concept store that offers products and services for mommies and babies, and provides classes and workshops for parents and kids.
“We are a community that advocates empowered parenting to build a healthier and happier home,” Sebuado added.
In two years of the pandemic, 9 and Beyond operations have continued through pick-up and delivery service of breastfeeding essentials, but their staple classes for first-time mothers like breastfeeding preparation, newborn care, complementary and supplementary feeding, have been migrated to an online platform.
On the other hand, lactation consultancy visits have continued strictly by appointment only with Sebuado, who is a registered nurse and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
With its reopening in its new space at the 2F of Ana Ros Bldg., Brgy. Simon Ledesma, Democracia St., Jaro, Iloilo City, 9 and Beyond Iloilo is now more accessible and convenient as it shares space with a new boutique cafe, Cafe 9:04, managed by one of the 9 and Beyond founders.
Atty. Jomele Gangoso-Caceres, one of the so-called 9Nays, will likewise serve as its General Manager.
“I look forward to not only serving coffee but also serving families in our continued advocacy to normalize breastfeeding,” Caceres said. “Moving forward, we assure everyone a time well spent at the cafe and at the center,” Caceres continued.
Starting this month, 9 and Beyond Iloilo will now resume its in-person classes beginning with a free talk on essential oils and free iTovi Body scan on the opening day and a watercolor florals painting workshop in celebration of Flores de Mayo. By June, all staple classes to support new families will resume. Breastfeeding essentials and other curated household products will also be available at the new center. Lactation consultations are still by appointment.
