Two public school educators in Iloilo City were adjudged among this year’s outstanding teachers in the country to be awarded in Makati City on Sept. 5.
Fely A. Batiloy, master teacher of Special Education Integrated School for Exceptional Children (SPED-ISEC) and Dominique J. Maquiran, assistant professor of the University of the Philippines High School Iloilo won the Metrobank Foundation’s 10 Outstanding Teachers of the Philippines 2013.
Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog congratulated and commended Batiloy and Maquiran for a job well done as their feat boosts the city’s reputation as an educational center.
The City Government always recognizes the significant role of educators in molding the Ilonggo youth and preparing them for a brighter future, he stressed.
Batiloy is the second awardee from SPED-ISEC while Maquiran is third from UP High School, bringing to a total of 13 awardees from the city joining the elite group of 316 outstanding teachers since 1985, said Metrobank Foundation president Aniceto M. Sobrepeña.
They will be presented to business leaders, top-level government officials and academe during the awarding ceremony.
“May you continue to provide a nurturing environment for teachers to pursue excellence in their efforts to share knowledge and inspire change,” Sobrepeña wrote Mabilog.
